Civil Rights Act of 1875
This act defended all Americans, no matter the race, to access public accommodations and buildings such as restaurants, movie theatres, public transportation and the right to serve on juries. However, it was not enforced and the Supreme Court deemed it unconstitutional in 1883.
In this legislation, Congress does their best to protect freed blacks by giving them equal access to public buildings and transportation.
